We are long time “winter residents” of St. John and have owned our rental condo for 12 years. We are a “by owner” rental, so when you call for information or bookings, you are talking to the owners. We live on St John in the condo the entire month of November and January 10 – April 10 each year; otherwise the condo is available for rent. Maximum guests is two. January 2, 2011 - April 14, 2012 (High Season) April 15, 2012 - Dec 21, 2012 (Low Season 2012) Decmber 22, 2012 - January 1, 2013 (Holiday Season) 5 night minimum if requested. Sorry, but we do not accept credit cards. To confirm your reservation, 50% of total rental is required at booking. The balance, plus 10% USVI Hotel Tax, is due 60 days prior to arrival. We will email you a confirmation letter for you to sign and return to us by fax or mail. Payment methods accepted are check, cash, cashier’s check or Pay Pal (3% additional fee added). Cancellation: No deposits will be refunded unless a replacement rental is obtained. Should you be forced to cancel for any reason and a replacement rental is obtained, your deposit will be refunded less a 10% administrative fee based on the total rental amount. We think back often to our perfect anniversary vacation spent in St. John. The villa was delightful and made 'staying in' as enjoyable as going out.
Originally from NC, I knew we had picked the right place when we spoke with the courteous and accommodating owners, both from NC, before booking. We were able to book a 3 night stay because it was off season, however, once we arrived, we wished we had spent everyday here instead of several in St. Thomas!...
The caretakers were just as kind and welcoming as the owners. Steve met us at the ferry and took us to the property where we had a nice welcome bag waiting for us (his wife, Lisa, makes them). He showed us around and made sure we were all set before leaving.
The location of La Mer worked well for us - away from the noise but close enough that we walked into Cruz Bay everyday (and I was 6 months pregnant). We didn't need a car but you might want one if you want to tour the island in its entirety - we took charming, open-air taxis to the beaches we wanted to see.
The villa was just as gorgeous as the photos depicted and the view was fabulous! The property was very well-maintained and offered so many extras that we enjoyed while there (books, games, nice beach towels, a cooler, etc). We loved reading and having breakfast on the lanai - so peaceful. The bed and bath were very spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed and the living room was a comfy retreat after a day of walking around the town. We enjoyed a swim in the shared pool and we even had it all to ourselves....We hope to go back very soon and we truly do daydream about our time spent in St. John. We'll be staying at La Mer again, of course! |
